Aloha e nā ʻōiwi ʻōlino nā pulapula a Hāloa, mai Hawaiʻi a Niʻihau a me nā makamaka o Hawaiʻi nei
I seek your support and vote for KEOLA LINDSEY to the open-position of Hawaiʻi Island Trustee, Office of Hawaiian Affairs.
Keolaʻs twenty plus years of multi-layered, Hawaiian focused, real-world service in problem-solving stretches from ʻOnipaʻa Mahiʻai Farmer/Owner, DLNR Cultural Historian, OHA Senior Cultural Advocate, OHA Lead Compliance Specialist, Papahānaumokuākea Program Manager to the present OHA Advocacy Director.
Two decades of quality work, illuminated by his undergraduate BA in Hawaiian Studies at Mānoa and capped by his MA in Public Administration at Mānoa (achieved while employed full time and fulfilling his family kuleana), in my opinion, asserts his continuing “kuleana” to advocate and deliver ethical, strategic, well-balanced, compassionate, straight-forward, fiscally sound yet visionary POLICIES for, by and with Native Hawaiians, empowering Native Hawaiians, strenghthening Hawaiʻi.
Being raised and working with his parents on their family lands – ʻOnipaʻa Mahiʻai Farm- has prepared him for the ʻOnipaʻa required by the challenge and “kuleana” of Hawaiʻi Island Trustee. This will serve him well because his journey has been in the preparation for this moment of destiny that beckons. Tūtū Pukuiʻs, ʻŌlelo Noʻeau reminds us: “He iʻa no ka moana, he aho loa ku i ke koʻa” (in order to obtain a good position one must prepare).
E ola kākou me ke aloha a me ke ahonui.
